I have worked in education all my life, teaching class music at primary level and delivering music tuition to people of all ages. Music has the power to make connections between people without the need for words. I have experienced this many times working in the classroom, with my music therapy clients and in performance.
I have always been interested in helping others, working in my teens as an auxiliary nurse with elderly people. More recently, looking after elderly parents has given me more awareness of the demands placed on carers. In all these encounters I have had glimpses of the way music can lift people’s mood and give them an outlet for self-expression. It was therefore a natural progression for me to combine music and care work to become a music therapist.
I am passionate about the power of music to create connections between people.
